A Personal Letter to You

Hello,

When I was a ‘newbie’ in my work as a clinical musician and was asked to visit a young father suffering from paralysis due to a brain infection and HIV; the visit was in his home – complete with the wife and two young children. His prognosis for recovery was poor. I was a new Dad and one of my biggest fears was not being around to see my young son grow up. And here I was going into that situation!

I wanted to contribute, to bring some healing or comfort to this family who was desperate for solace. I knew I could not magically play a piece of music that would reverse the patient’s condition, but I wanted to make a positive difference. I began to play.

Music has the uncanny ability to change the tone and feeling of physical space. Whether that space is a living room converted for patient care, or an arena featuring a concert, the real magic is the change that happens. Once you understand how sound and music affects us physically, emotionally and cognitively, you pull back the curtain of magic to reveal the knowledge of science.

With knowledge comes techniques to use sound and music to your advantage as a professional caregiver. I’ve spent a lot of time delivering prescriptive music at the bedside, and teaching caregivers and volunteers how to use sound and therapeutic music. I’ve seen their knowing smiles as they ‘get it’ and enjoyed sharing their success in the field with their patients.

The Healer’s Visit is my course that delivers the ‘real deal’ knowledge of therapeutic music and soundscape shaping that’s useful for professional caregivers. I make no excuses, I’m offering this course for a limited time at the special introductory price of $197.

You and I both know that most any course you take as a caregiver costs more, and you often need to travel. You may have doubts because you’re not ‘musical’. If you can play music on your phone and adjust the volume control, you’re good to go.

Go to the ‘People’ page at VanYoungMusic.com to see what healthcare professionals say about my work.

If you visit patients, you can benefit from The Healer’s Visit. It’s not often that you’re able to integrate a new modality into your work with no contraindications. That works even when the prognosis is poor, and you can fully understand with little investment of your time.

Register today and do not delay, music and sound powerfully affect you throughout your day. It’s time you understood that influence and used it to support your work as a professional caregiver.
